DEFECTIVE AIR BAG INVESTIGATION
The NHTSA has ordered the recall of 12.3 million vehicles manufactured by Toyota, Honda, Kia, Hyundai, Mitsubishi and Fiat Chrysler. They all contain an air bags manufactured by ZF-TRW.
The air bag control units can fail in a crash, possibly because of unwanted electrical signals produced by the crash itself that can disable the air bag control circuit housed int eh passenger compartment. The electrical signals can damage the control circuit, thus preventing the air bag from deploying.
